Carmen Verde: a path of integrated physiotherapy between manual therapy, posture and chronic pain
Carmen Verde is a physiotherapist who graduated in 2019 from the Università Ludes in Lugano. From the very beginning of her career she has built a profile focused on musculoskeletal rehabilitation, with particular attention to tailoring treatment to each person and to listening to them.

Experience in orthopaedics and rehabilitation (hip and knee)
During her clinical placements, Carmen gained experience in leading centres in Italy and Ticino. At the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi – Sant’Ambrogio in Milan she worked in orthopaedics and traumatology, focusing in particular on the treatment of the hip and knee. She then continued at the Istituto Clinico Villa Aprica in Como, in a department dedicated to hip and knee replacement surgery, deepening her knowledge of how to support patients throughout the rehabilitation process.
In Ticino, she completed further placements at Fisioterapia “Il Percorso” in Mendrisio and Rehability Cadro, consolidating a practical, flexible approach suited to a range of clinical presentations and to real functional goals.
Specialisation in orthopaedic manual therapy (Mulligan Concept)
After graduating, Carmen invested in training in orthopaedic manual therapy with the Mulligan Concept. This approach aims to improve movement and function through specific manual techniques, combined with exercises and practical advice, so that the results last longer over time.
Lymphatic drainage and compression therapy
Another area of specialisation is manual lymphatic drainage and compression therapy. Here, physiotherapy can be useful when swelling, a feeling of heaviness and tissue recovery need to be managed, always within a guided programme adapted to the person’s condition.
Temporomandibular joint and craniomandibular disorders
Carmen has also studied manual therapy for the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and for craniomandibular disorders. This is an often underestimated area, yet it can affect neck tension, headaches, stiffness and postural compensations. That is why assessment becomes essential: understanding what keeps the problem going makes it possible to choose the most effective strategies.
Posture and the Mézières Method: scoliosis and spinal disorders
Her training in the field of posture with the Mézières Method allows her to work specifically on scoliosis and on spinal disorders as a whole. The aim is not to “correct” a single point, but to read the body’s compensations, improve mobility and control, and build a programme that is sustainable in everyday life.
Chronic pain: a central interest
Chronic pain is a subject of particular interest to Carmen. In Zurich she studied the Schmerztherapie Liebscher & Bracht technique, also drawing on emerging approaches such as mindfulness and therapeutic hypnosis. In this context, physiotherapy is not limited to the symptom: habits, stress, pace of life and strategies that help the person regain confidence in movement are also taken into account.
Support for women with breast cancer
She has recently completed a specialisation in the physiotherapy management of women with breast cancer, a journey that calls for targeted support at the different stages of treatment. The aim is to accompany recovery with care, expertise and gradual progression, respecting each person’s own pace and needs.
A global view: anthroposophic medicine and wellbeing
Her interest in anthroposophic medicine stems from the wish to consider the person as a whole: body, rhythm, balance and lived experience. Ongoing training in this field allows her to integrate techniques aimed at restoring the body’s homeostasis and natural physiological rhythm, with the aim of promoting global, lasting wellbeing.
