This is a manual physiotherapy technique that works deeply on the muscle fascia, namely the strong connective tissue that surrounds the muscle bellies, connects them to one another and allows them to glide against each other.
This tissue can develop "densifications" that limit its normal mobility, leading to muscular, joint, postural and tissue-related problems.
Many factors, such as physical or emotional stress, trauma, overuse of a movement in sport, incorrect postures maintained at work or in everyday life, an incorrect diet and prolonged exposure to unfavourable environmental conditions, can cause densification and stiffening of the fascia, resulting in pain, stiffness and restricted movement.
Fascial treatment is often effective in chronic pain and in recovery following trauma or surgery.
